Position Overview:

As a Paralegal at Schloemer Law Firm, you will provide essential support to our attorneys and assist with managing cases from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings by drafting and reviewing legal documents, motions, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support case strategy, including reviewing statutes, case law, and legal articles.
  • Client Liaison: Communicate directly with clients to gather information, update them on case progress, and provide general support throughout the legal process.
  • Document Management: Organize and maintain case files, documents, and records in an efficient manner, ensuring compliance with firm policies and legal standards.
  • Court Filings: Prepare, file, and track court documents, ensuring adherence to deadlines and applicable rules.
  • Trial Support: Assist with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, evidence, and witness lists, and attend trials or hearings when necessary.
  • Administrative Tasks: Manage calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings for attorneys and clients.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Certification: Paralegal certification (e.g., NALA, NFPA) is preferred but not required.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management software.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and external stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well in a collaborative environment, and independently when needed.
